Axel's take: 8.7/10

Spacious beachfront suites and dependable service, with some noise and housekeeping caveats. a mid-range, all-suite beachfront resort, scored for what it is.

DiamondHead is a mid-range, all-suite beachfront resort that gets the important things right: space, beach access and friendly service. We'd pick it for an easygoing family vacation rather than a luxury escape. Its refreshed one-bedroom suites have separate living areas, kitchenettes and private balconies; beachfront categories deliver straight-on views rather than angled Gulf views. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean rooms and helpful staff, while the heated outdoor pool, two hot tubs and on-site dining make staying put appealing.

The trade-offs matter if you want quiet or daily attention. Some guests flag loud beach-bar music, and Expedia warns of neighboring construction. The hotel's own advisory also lists ongoing ground-floor renovations, described as minimally disruptive. Housekeeping is limited rather than reliably daily, and a mandatory resort fee applies. We'd skip it for a silent retreat; otherwise, it's a strong beach base with useful suite space.

• Best for: families wanting separate living space; couples prioritizing beach access; longer stays with a kitchenette

• Watch out for: neighboring construction and ground-floor renovations; potentially loud beach-bar music; limited housekeeping and mandatory resort fee

• Location: Directly on Fort Myers Beach, roughly a 15-minute walk from Times Square.

• Rooms: Refreshed one-bedroom suites with kitchenettes and balconies; Gulf-view rooms have angled views.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent guest feedback across Expedia and Tripadvisor.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff draw repeated praise across several review sites.

• Amenities: Heated outdoor pool, two hot tubs, gym and on-site dining; no verified indoor pool.

• Fees and surprises: Resort fee includes one parking space; confirm beach-chair inclusions, since official information and recent reviews differ.
