Axel's take

A practical 3-star downtown chain hotel

7.8/10

A convenient downtown base with helpful staff, but compact rooms and nearby roadworks.

This practical 3-star Holiday Inn is a good pick for exploring Toronto without needing a car. College subway station is close, and the Eaton Centre is an easy walk. Recent Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and clean rooms; Booking.com’s ratings also show service and location as strengths. An indoor pool, gym and on-site restaurant make it more useful than a basic room-only hotel.

The compromise is space: several guests describe small rooms, and opinions on their condition range from modern to dated. Tripadvisor guests also report elevator waits at busy times. Nearby College/Carlton sewer and streetcar-track works are scheduled through December 2026, so allow for traffic disruption and possible noise. Parking costs extra, and breakfast depends on your booking. We’d choose it for short city stays, not roomy family downtime or a polished retreat.

Best for

car-free city breaks
short business stays
travelers prioritizing location

Watch out for

compact rooms
busy-time elevator waits
nearby roadworks through December 2026

Location: Close to College subway station, with shops, restaurants and the Eaton Centre within walking distance.
Rooms: Generally comfortable but often compact; recent guests disagree on how fresh the interiors feel.
Cleanliness: Broadly positive across booking sites, despite some individual housekeeping complaints.
Service: Helpful reception and housekeeping staff are recurring strengths in recent reviews.
Amenities: Indoor pool, gym, free Wi-Fi, restaurant and coffee shop.
Fees and surprises: Paid parking; check breakfast inclusion; nearby College/Carlton construction is scheduled through December 2026.
