A comfortable waterfront stopover, but check what your room actually includes. a modern 4-star waterfront airport and conference hotel, scored for what it is.

Scandic CPH Strandpark is a modern 4-star waterfront airport and conference hotel, and a strong pick for a comfortable stopover rather than a downtown Copenhagen stay. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and the breakfast buffet. The sea views and rooftop bar give it more appeal than a purely functional airport hotel.

The catch is that the four-star facilities do not all come with the room. Pool and wellness access normally costs extra, breakfast depends on your booking, and standard rooms lack tea-making facilities. Tripadvisor guests are noticeably less enthusiastic, with recurring complaints about sparse room amenities and extras. We'd choose it for flights, meetings or waterfront downtime; skip it if you want central sightseeing on your doorstep or an included family pool.

• Best for: airport stopovers; business and conference travelers; couples wanting waterfront downtime

• Watch out for: pool and wellness usually cost extra; standard rooms have limited extras; outside central Copenhagen

• Location: Waterfront in Kastrup, near the airport and aquarium; Kastrup metro is about 400 metres away.

• Rooms: Modern and generally comfortable; standard rooms lack kettles, while superior categories add tea-making facilities.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength: Booking.com scores cleanliness 9.0, backed by repeated recent Expedia praise.

• Service: Recent Expedia guests mostly praise staff; Tripadvisor feedback is more mixed on reception and digital check-in.

• Amenities: Gym, rooftop bar and paid wellness pool; spa access is generally 16+, with special sessions for children aged five and over.

• Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion; garage parking is paid and requires prebooking, and the free airport shuttle has limited weekday hours and needs booking.
