Harbourfront character and strong comfort, with a few five-star compromises. a historic 5-star waterfront hotel near Nyhavn, scored for what it is.

Admiral is a historic 5-star waterfront hotel in a converted warehouse, and a strong pick for exploring Copenhagen on foot. Nyhavn and Amalienborg are close, while exposed beams give the rooms genuine character. Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds, breakfast and helpful staff; Booking.com’s strong overall ratings support that picture. The hotel group confirmed completion of the public-space renovation in September 2026, including the new heated outdoor pool.

The compromises matter at this level: entry rooms are compact, and recurring summer reviews describe inadequate cooling; management confirms air cooling rather than conventional air conditioning. Service earns plenty of praise but some recent Tripadvisor guests report basic mistakes. Pool access costs extra outside suites and uses timed sessions. We'd choose a waterfront room, but skip it if powerful cooling or spacious entry-level accommodation is essential.

• Best for: couples wanting harbour views; first-time Copenhagen visitors; travelers who prefer historic character

• Watch out for: limited cooling during hot weather; compact entry-level rooms; paid, timed pool access outside suites

• Location: Excellent sightseeing base beside the harbour, a short walk from Nyhavn and Amalienborg.

• Rooms: Characterful beams and comfortable beds; Classic doubles are 20 square metres, with recurring cooling complaints.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall cleanliness ratings and repeated recent praise outweigh scattered housekeeping complaints.

• Service: Usually welcoming and helpful, though recent Tripadvisor reviews flag occasional check-in and follow-through mistakes.

• Amenities: Restaurant aye aye, SIR cocktail bar, free 24-hour gym and a heated outdoor Pool & Relax Area.

• Fees and surprises: Standard pool sessions last 80 minutes and cost extra outside suites; parking is paid and on-site spaces are limited.
