Axel's take on Copenhagen Airport: #7 of 7 in Copenhagen, 3.7/10
Choose it for the flight, not the city break. Flight convenience does not outweigh weak sightseeing access, limited doorstep choice and modest hotel quality; value offers little reason to stay beyond an overnight.
Stay here when the flight is the point: a late arrival, early departure or one-night connection. Around Terminal 3 and Ellehammersvej, the appeal is practical rather than picturesque. The M2 and mainline trains make trips into Copenhagen straightforward; toward Kastrup, residential streets and Den Blå Planet provide alternatives to spending the entire stopover around the terminal.
For a normal city break, skip it. Fast trains do not replace stepping out into central café streets, and an airport-branded address does not necessarily mean a terminal walk. Check the actual route to departures: staying near Kastrup station is different from staying beside Terminal 3. This is a logistics choice, not our recommendation for a Copenhagen holiday.
- Best for: business trips and conventions, travelers without a car
- Skip it if: You are spending several days sightseeing; You want restaurants and nightlife to shape the stay
- Getting around: M2 serves Lufthavnen and Kastrup; mainline trains serve the terminal; walk to the aquarium from Kastrup; central Copenhagen is a short direct rail journey, while terminal access depends on your exact address.
- After dark: A 2025 visitor report describes quiet residential streets near the metro; expect a practical overnight rather than an evening bar circuit.
- Rates: Typical Axel rate $194 a night · usually 5% under the public rate

Where to look in Copenhagen Airport
- Terminal 3 and Ellehammersvej. Choose this side for flight logistics and immediate rail or metro access, not a neighborhood evening. Hotels here: Clarion Hotel Copenhagen Airport, Comfort Hotel Copenhagen Airport.
- Kastrup metro station. A stopover base with metro access and a walk to the aquarium, distinct from staying beside the terminal. Hotels here: Scandic CPH Strandpark, Best Western Plus Airport Hotel Copenhagen.
- Amager Strandvej by Den Blå Planet. Look here for waterside walks and an aquarium visit when your stopover leaves time beyond the airport. Hotels here: Scandic CPH Strandpark.
How to choose
- Choose Clarion Hotel Copenhagen Airport if covered terminal access, spacious rooms and aircraft soundproofing matter more than the lowest rate.
- Choose Scandic CPH Strandpark if you want waterfront downtime and can treat wellness access as an extra.
- Choose Best Western Plus Airport Hotel Copenhagen if the lowest rate matters most and you accept renovation disruption and uneven room condition.
What paying more buys
Best Western Plus Airport Hotel Copenhagen is cheaper but has renovation and room-condition compromises; Comfort Hotel Copenhagen Airport adds covered terminal access with minimal room extras. Clarion Hotel Copenhagen Airport costs more again for spacious, aircraft-soundproofed rooms and full-service facilities. For a brief overnight, Comfort may make more sense than paying for Clarion’s extra space. Typical rates with Axel here run from $153 a night at Best Western Plus Airport Hotel Copenhagen to $233 at Clarion Hotel Copenhagen Airport (last 30 days).

- Scandic CPH Strandpark 8.2/10, modern 4-star waterfront airport and conference hotel. A comfortable waterfront stopover, but check what your room actually includes. Why it's here: waterfront downtime near the airport, with a rooftop bar and optional wellness facilities. Accept: wellness usually costs extra; the shuttle has limited weekday hours.
- Comfort Hotel Copenhagen Airport 7.9/10, no-frills 3-star airport hotel with covered terminal access. A practical airport overnight, but you pay for convenience rather than room comforts.
