Axel's take: 8.1/10

A friendly, well-located city base, with compact rooms and renovation caveats. a design-led 4-star city hotel near Copenhagen Central Station, scored for what it is.

Hotel Mayfair is a design-led 4-star in Vesterbro that works best as a comfortable sightseeing base, not a full-service luxury stay. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, comfortable beds and breakfast; cleanliness is another consistent strength. Central Station and Tivoli are close by, while the courtyard and lobby bar give you somewhere pleasant to pause between outings. We'd pick it for a short, largely car-free Copenhagen break.

The compromises are worth knowing: entry-level doubles are genuinely small, there is no air conditioning, and housekeeping is on request. Street noise can matter with windows open. Renovation is the bigger current caveat: Booking.com guests reported drilling in July 2026, and owner Pandox schedules completion and a Hobo rebrand for late 2026. Confirm the work affecting your dates. We'd skip it if you need guaranteed quiet, spacious rooms or wheelchair-friendly access.

• Best for: couples on short city breaks; travelers arriving by train; sightseers exploring on foot

• Watch out for: renovation ahead of the planned Hobo rebrand; compact rooms without air conditioning; stairs and unsuitable wheelchair access

• Location: Convenient Vesterbro base near Central Station, Tivoli, restaurants and public transport.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds; entry-level doubles are 11–14 square metres, with no air conditioning.

• Cleanliness: Generally strong guest feedback; room cleaning must be requested.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring highlight across review sites; reception operates around the clock.

• Amenities: Courtyard, lobby bar, 24-hour gym and bike rental; breakfast restaurant rather than full dinner service.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast may cost extra; parking is paid and off-site; confirm renovation disruption before booking.
