Axel's take: 5.9/10

Convenient for a budget stop, but cleanliness and upkeep are too inconsistent. a no-frills 2-star motel in suburban Independence, scored for what it is.

This no-frills 2-star motel in Independence has practical appeal for drivers: free parking, nearby restaurants and straightforward access to Cleveland. The hotel lists microwaves and mini-fridges in every room, plus free Wi-Fi and lobby coffee. Recent Expedia guests often praise helpful staff, and some report clean, comfortable overnight stays. It can work for a short budget stop, but we wouldn't call it dependable.

The main problem is inconsistent housekeeping and maintenance. Recent reviews describe stained bedding, poorly cleaned bathrooms, damaged fixtures and smoke odors despite the smoke-free policy; noise also crops up. Tripadvisor's stronger overall rating contrasts sharply with Expedia's weaker results. We'd skip it if reliable cleanliness or uninterrupted sleep matters more than keeping costs down.

• Best for: budget-conscious drivers on short stays; travelers bringing one cat or dog

• Watch out for: inconsistent housekeeping and worn fixtures; smoke odors and occasional guest noise; no elevator

• Location: Suburban, driver-oriented base with restaurants nearby; Cleveland attractions require a drive.

• Rooms: Microwaves and mini-fridges are listed in every room; recent guests report damaged trim, plumbing problems and stained bedding.

• Cleanliness: Some recent guests find clean rooms, but repeated bathroom, floor and linen complaints undermine confidence.

• Service: Helpful front-desk staff are a recurring positive, although problem handling is not consistently praised.

• Amenities: Free parking, Wi-Fi and lobby coffee; expect basic motel facilities, and note there is no elevator.

• Fees and surprises: The official site lists a nightly safe fee; the first pet stays free, while a second incurs a charge, subject to restrictions.
