Axel's take: 8.9/10

Refreshed rooms and genuinely welcoming service make this a strong downtown pick. an upscale 4-star downtown hotel, scored for what it is.

The Westin Buffalo is an upscale 4-star downtown hotel we'd choose for comfort and service rather than elaborate luxury. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise spacious, spotless rooms and welcoming staff, with strong feedback continuing into summer 2026. The owner confirms a full room renovation finished in 2025, so older comments about dated decor deserve less weight. Its location suits downtown dining and theater trips, while Patina 250 and Jake's Café make eating on-site convenient.

The trade-offs are mostly practical: parking and breakfast cost extra, and there's no pool or full-service spa. A sauna added in summer 2026 strengthens the gym offering without making this a spa hotel. We'd skip it if swimming or an inclusive breakfast matters most; otherwise, it's a very good base for business trips and city weekends.

• Best for: downtown business travelers; couples on theater weekends; travelers prioritizing clean, comfortable rooms

• Watch out for: Parking and breakfast cost extra; No pool or full-service spa; Check in-room Wi-Fi terms for your booking

• Location: Downtown, convenient for restaurants, theaters and Fountain Plaza transit.

• Rooms: Full renovation completed in 2025; guests praise spaciousness and comfort.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Tripadvisor and recent Expedia reviews.

• Service: Warm, accommodating staff dominate feedback; isolated problem-handling complaints temper expectations.

• Amenities: Restaurant, café, gym and a sauna added in summer 2026; no pool or full-service spa.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast and parking are extra; Marriott guarantees free in-room Wi-Fi for members booking directly.
