Axel's take: 5.1/10

The central location is useful, but cleanliness and maintenance let this budget hostal down. a basic 2-star budget hostal in Bogotá’s historic center, scored for what it is.

This basic 2-star hostal in La Candelaria puts Bogotá’s historic sights within easy reach, but we’d hesitate to recommend it even for a budget stay. Location is its clearest strength, and Booking.com and Expedia guests often praise individual reception staff. Some travelers find it adequate for the price; too many others describe shortcomings in the basics.

Recent reviews across both sites repeatedly mention uncomfortable beds, tired bedding, dirty rooms and bathroom problems, including unreliable hot water. Booking.com guests also report cigarette smells and noise carrying between rooms. These are more than cosmetic compromises in a simple hostal. It may suit travelers prioritizing a central address above comfort, but we’d skip it for light sleepers or anyone expecting consistently clean, well-maintained accommodation.

• Best for: travelers prioritizing historic-center access; budget travelers willing to accept substantial compromises

• Watch out for: recurring cleanliness and bedding complaints; uncomfortable beds and bathroom faults; noise and cigarette smells

• Location: Central La Candelaria location; booking sites list Carrera 3 #12d-71 rather than the catalog’s #12d-60.

• Rooms: Basic private rooms; repeated reports of cramped layouts, uncomfortable mattresses and worn fittings.

• Cleanliness: A recurring weakness across recent Booking.com and Expedia reviews, though some guests report clean rooms.

• Service: Reception staff frequently earn praise, but problem handling receives mixed feedback.

• Amenities: Listings advertise free Wi-Fi, a shared kitchen and 24-hour reception; guests question kitchen equipment and hot-water reliability.

• Fees and surprises: Airport transfers and pets can incur charges; parking listings conflict, so confirm arrangements and late arrival directly.
