Hotels in Barcelonaa modern, adults-only 3-star in El Born
8.9/10
A strong city-break pick with welcoming staff and a rooftop worth returning to.
Hotel REC is a modern, adults-only 3-star in El Born that delivers particularly well for sightseeing breaks. We'd pick it for the walkable location near Arc de Triomf, consistently praised staff and rooftop lounge. Recent guests on Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor repeatedly highlight clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful reception teams. Breakfast with city views and the hotel's social activities give it more personality than a basic overnight base.
The compromises are mostly about space: entry-level rooms are around 14–15 square metres, storage is limited, and movable bathroom partitions won't suit everyone. The rooftop pool is a shallow dipping pool, not somewhere for proper swimming, and operates seasonally. Noise reports vary; light sleepers should consider the courtyard-facing Quiet REC category. We'd skip it for a spacious, private room or a pool-focused holiday, but it's a very good fit for adults spending their days exploring.

Rooms: Modern and comfortable but compact; Quiet REC rooms face the courtyard and include balconies.
Cleanliness: Strong recent feedback across Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor.
Service: Friendly, helpful reception staff are among the most consistently praised features.
Amenities: Rooftop lounge, seasonal plunge pool, breakfast, tapas, free Wi-Fi and organized activities.
Fees and surprises: Breakfast and parking cost extra; parking is limited. Expedia lists city tax and a pre-check-in damage deposit.
