A strong sightseeing base, with clean rooms and some old-fashioned compromises.
Hotel Del Mar is a traditional 3-star between El Born and Port Vell, and we'd pick it for exploring Barcelona rather than spending days in the hotel. Recent Expedia, Booking.com and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the cleanliness, helpful staff and convenient location near restaurants and public transport. Breakfast generally earns good feedback, while terrace rooms draw particular praise for their outdoor space and, in some cases, harbor views.
The compromises are practical: standard doubles are compact, the decor is traditional rather than contemporary, and several Booking.com guests report street or neighboring-room noise. The hotel confirms that cooling and heating operate seasonally, so don't assume air-conditioning is available year-round. We'd skip it if silence, spacious rooms or extensive on-site facilities are priorities; otherwise, it's a dependable city-break choice.

Best for: Sightseeing couples; Travelers exploring on foot and by metro; City-break travelers wanting a private terrace
Watch out for: Street and neighboring-room noise; Seasonal air-conditioning and heating; Compact standard rooms
Location: Between El Born and Port Vell, with restaurants, metro connections and the waterfront nearby; not beachfront.
Rooms: Standard doubles are listed at 16 square meters; balconies and terraces are separate room categories.
Cleanliness: Consistently positive across recent guest reviews, despite occasional individual bathroom complaints.
Service: Helpful reception staff earn frequent praise, though problem handling receives some mixed feedback.
Amenities: Buffet breakfast, free Wi-Fi and luggage storage; gym access is at nearby sister hotel Ciutadella.
Fees and surprises: City tax is collected at the property; breakfast may cost extra, and paid parking is off-site.
