Hotels in Barcelonaa refreshed 4-star city hotel on Barcelona’s Avinguda Diagonal
8.6/10
A comfortable Diagonal base with standout staff, generous rooms and a few privacy quirks.
Hesperia Presidente is a refreshed 4-star city hotel on Avinguda Diagonal, and a strong pick for travelers who prioritize room space, helpful staff and neighborhood restaurants. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise cleanliness, comfortable beds and the varied breakfast. A 2024 refurbishment refreshed the lobby and redecorated all rooms, though this remains a practical city hotel rather than a luxury retreat.
The location suits shopping and dining better than stepping straight into the old town; expect walking or transport for sightseeing. Some guests dislike the glass-enclosed bathroom layout, so confirm your room’s privacy before sharing with friends. Occasional reports of worn details also temper the refreshed image. We’d choose it for a comfortable Barcelona base, but skip it if old-town proximity or a fully private bathroom is essential.

Best for: couples exploring Barcelona; business travelers; travelers prioritizing spacious rooms
Watch out for: glass bathroom enclosures in some rooms; not in the old-town sightseeing core; some lingering wear
Location: Diagonal address near shops and restaurants; buses nearby and roughly 15 minutes’ walk to Passeig de Gràcia.
Rooms: Generous room sizes and comfortable beds earn praise; confirm bathroom privacy and room condition.
Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent Tripadvisor and Expedia feedback.
Service: Friendly, helpful reception and breakfast staff are recurring highlights.
Amenities: Gym, rooftop terrace/solarium, breakfast buffet, lounge bar and free Wi-Fi.
Fees and surprises: City tax is payable locally; breakfast may cost extra, pets incur a supplement, and there is no on-site parking.
