#2 of 5 hotels in Olive Drive by Axel's take. Olive Drive is #7 of 7 places to stay in Bakersfield. The best hotels in Olive Drive, ranked · Where to stay in Bakersfield

Axel's take: 6.1/10

Useful kitchenettes and helpful staff, but upkeep makes this a cautious budget choice. A no-frills 2-star extended-stay motel off Highway 99, scored for what it is.

Studio 6 Bakersfield is a no-frills, 2-star extended-stay motel off Highway 99, with kitchenettes, free parking and guest laundry. It's a practical option for budget travelers who need to cook, rather than a comfortable destination in its own right. Staff are its strongest asset: recent Expedia and brand-site guests repeatedly praise helpful employees, and Booking.com's staff rating stands above its other categories.

The trade-off is inconsistent upkeep. Some guests find clean, spacious rooms; others describe dirty floors, worn fixtures, uncomfortable beds and smoke smells. Several also report feeling uneasy around the entrance and parking area, though that isn't proof the property is unsafe. We'd consider it for a functional, kitchen-equipped stay, but skip it if dependable cleanliness, comfortable beds or a reassuring setting matter most.

  • Best for: Budget travelers needing a kitchenette; Drivers making a practical stop

  • Watch out for: Uneven cleanliness and worn furnishings; Smoke smells and uncomfortable-bed reports; Guest concerns about activity outside

  • Location: Off Highway 99 at Olive Drive, near restaurants; some guests feel uneasy around the property.

  • Rooms: Kitchenettes are the main draw; condition and bed comfort receive mixed feedback.

  • Cleanliness: Some clean-room reports, but recurring complaints prevent a confident recommendation.

  • Service: Helpful staff are the clearest recurring positive, including in 2026 reviews.

  • Amenities: Free parking, Wi-Fi and coin laundry; the brand advertises an outdoor pool, but confirm availability.

  • Fees and surprises: Deposit and pet fees apply; a 2025 guest reported renovation-blocked rooms, so ask about current work.
