#5 of 5 hotels in Olive Drive by Axel's take. Olive Drive is #7 of 7 places to stay in Bakersfield. The best hotels in Olive Drive, ranked · Where to stay in Bakersfield

Axel's take: 4.6/10

Friendly staff cannot outweigh recurring pest and cleanliness complaints. a basic 2-star roadside motel off Highway 99, scored for what it is.

Best Economy Inn n Suites is a basic 2-star roadside motel off Highway 99, with free parking and Wi-Fi as its clearest practical advantages. Staff earn repeated praise, and some 2026 guests describe clean, comfortable rooms. But this is not a budget pick we'd confidently recommend: KAYAK's overall ratings are weak, while Expedia's more favorable average masks sharply divided experiences.

The deciding issue is cleanliness, not a lack of luxury. Multiple guests across 2025 and 2026 report cockroaches, stained bedding and unpleasant smells; Hotels.com also carries recent bedbug reports. Those are serious failures even at this level. Fridges and microwaves are not assured, and current pool availability could not be verified. Only consider it for a bare-bones stopover if you can inspect the room first; we'd steer families and anyone needing dependable cleanliness elsewhere.

Best for: drivers needing Highway 99 access; bare-bones stopovers after inspecting the room
Watch out for: recurring cockroach and bedbug reports; inconsistent cleanliness and bedding; deposits and extra pet charges
Location: Convenient for Highway 99 and driving around north Bakersfield, rather than a downtown walking base.
Rooms: Basic air-conditioned rooms; confirm fridge, microwave and ground-floor requests, as there is no elevator.
Cleanliness: Some recent praise, but repeated pest, stained-linen and odor complaints undermine confidence.
Service: Friendly, accommodating staff are a recurring strength, though some guests report poor complaint handling.
Amenities: Free parking and Wi-Fi are listed; do not count on the catalog's pool or spa tub without confirmation.
Fees and surprises: Booking sites list deposits, pet and cleaning fees, and a card-payment surcharge; confirm terms before arrival.
