#3 of 5 hotels in Olive Drive by Axel's take. Olive Drive is #7 of 7 places to stay in Bakersfield. The best hotels in Olive Drive, ranked · Where to stay in Bakersfield

Axel's take: 5.2/10

Convenient for a quick stop, but cleanliness and maintenance are too inconsistent. a no-frills 2-star roadside motel off Highway 99, scored for what it is.

Bakersfield Inn is a no-frills 2-star roadside motel off Highway 99, still listed as Motel 6 Bakersfield Airport on some sites. Free parking, nearby food options and frequently praised staff are its strongest points. Tripadvisor guests are substantially happier than Booking.com guests, while Expedia falls between them. Several September and October 2026 reviews praise clean rooms and helpful management, suggesting improvement, but we'd still treat it as a cautious overnight option rather than dependable good value.

The concern isn't a lack of luxury: it's recurring reports of cockroaches, dirty rooms, faulty door locks and nighttime disturbance. Guests repeatedly reported the outdoor pool closed through August 2026 despite listings advertising it; confirm reopening before booking. We'd skip it for a family getaway or whenever reliable cleanliness and undisturbed sleep matter most.

Best for: budget-conscious drivers making a short stop; travelers prioritizing highway access
Watch out for: recurring pest and cleanliness complaints; faulty locks and nighttime disturbance reported; pool repeatedly reported closed
Location: Convenient Highway 99 access and nearby food; several guests describe uncomfortable surroundings.
Rooms: Basic accommodation with uneven upkeep; smoking and non-smoking rooms are listed.
Cleanliness: Recent praise is offset by repeated reports of cockroaches, dirty floors and stained bedding.
Service: Helpful staff attract frequent praise, though complaint handling is inconsistent.
Amenities: Free parking, Wi-Fi and laundry are listed; confirm whether the outdoor pool has reopened.
Fees and surprises: Pet policies conflict across sites; Expedia lists a pet fee, while Booking.com says pets stay free.
