#5 of 9 hotels in Buck Owens Boulevard by Axel's take. Buck Owens Boulevard is #2 of 7 places to stay in Bakersfield. The best hotels in Buck Owens Boulevard, ranked · Where to stay in Bakersfield

Axel's take: 8.3/10

Spacious suites and friendly service make a strong stopover, but check renovation progress. a practical 3-star all-suite hotel for Bakersfield stopovers, scored for what it is.

This practical 3-star all-suite hotel is a strong pick for a Bakersfield stopover or family visit. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms and helpful staff, while the separate living areas give families useful extra space. Free parking and hot breakfast strengthen the value, and Marriott confirms an indoor pool, whirlpool and gym. We'd choose it for straightforward comfort rather than a downtown experience.

The main caveat is renovation work: guests reported major renovations in July 2026 and continuing construction in September, although August reviews praised newly redone rooms. Completion isn't confirmed, so ask about work near your assigned room before booking. Shower pressure and water temperature also attract complaints across sites. We'd skip it if construction uncertainty would spoil your stay or you want to explore downtown primarily on foot.

  • Best for: road-trip stopovers; families wanting extra space; business travelers with a car

  • Watch out for: renovation completion unconfirmed; some weak or lukewarm showers; car-oriented location

  • Location: Marriott Drive hotel cluster, a short drive rather than a central downtown base; no airport shuttle.

  • Rooms: Separate living areas, microwaves and refrigerators; recent guests praise refreshed rooms, but some report shower problems.

  • Cleanliness: Consistently strong guest feedback, with a renovation-related dust complaint worth distinguishing from routine housekeeping.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength; Marriott lists housekeeping every other day.

  • Amenities: Free hot breakfast, indoor pool, whirlpool and fitness center; breakfast feedback is mostly positive, not unanimous.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking is complimentary; pets are not allowed except service animals. Confirm renovation status before arrival.
