Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong downtown choice for river views and dining, but light sleepers should be cautious. An upscale 4-star riverfront hotel in downtown Fort Myers, scored for what it is.

Luminary is an upscale 4-star riverfront hotel that makes a strong base for downtown Fort Myers. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean, modern rooms, comfortable beds and welcoming staff, with the valet team earning particular recognition. We'd pick it for walkable restaurants, river views and an evening at Beacon Social Drinkery, the rooftop bar. The fourth-floor outdoor pool and several dining options give it more appeal than a straightforward business hotel.

The biggest catch is sleep: guests across several sites report nearby nightlife carrying into some rooms until around 2 a.m. Ask specifically for a quieter room rather than assuming a higher floor solves it. Some guests also report pool access being restricted for private events. Parking and breakfast cost extra. We'd skip it for a reliably quiet retreat or a beach-focused vacation; this is a lively downtown stay, not a beachfront resort.

• Best for: Couples exploring downtown; Travelers who enjoy restaurants and nightlife; Convention attendees

• Watch out for: Late-night music reaches some rooms; Pool access can be restricted for private events; Parking and breakfast cost extra

• Location: Riverfront River District setting, walkable to restaurants, shops and the convention center; not beachfront.

• Rooms: Modern, comfortable rooms with appealing water-view options; noise exposure varies by room.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent Expedia and Tripadvisor reviews.

• Service: Generally warm and helpful, especially valet staff; occasional reports of uneven bar service.

• Amenities: Fourth-floor outdoor pool, fitness center, rooftop bar, coffee shop and multiple dining options; no indoor pool listed.

• Fees and surprises: Self-parking, valet and standard breakfast carry charges; confirm pool availability around private events.
