Questions families ask
Should we book two queens or two doubles for a family of four?
Two queens give each pair more sleeping space. Sutton Place, Hazelton, Shangri-La and both Delta hotels listed here accommodate four in two queens. InterContinental's named Classic room and All Days Hostel use two doubles. Book the exact bed configuration: a generic Classic or Standard category does not always guarantee two beds.
How much room will four people actually have?
Space varies substantially even when all four guests are permitted. Hazelton offers 625 square feet, Shangri-La 520 and Sutton Place about 452. Canopy has 320, while InterContinental's two-double Classic is about 269. These are shared sleeping spaces, so consider luggage, stroller storage and whether adults need somewhere to sit after the children settle.
Can we add a crib or rollaway instead of sharing both beds?
Do not assume an extra bed is allowed just because the hotel offers them generally. Downtown Delta prohibits rollaways in its two-queen room, and Omni's two-queen Deluxe does not offer them. Hazelton offers a rollaway for a fee, subject to configuration. Cribs are free on request at Hazelton and Omni; confirm availability before booking.
Does a room for four cost much more than a room for two?
The difference varies by hotel and night. The airport Delta has a relatively small step up from its cheapest room for two, while Hazelton and Omni show a larger increase. Across these choices, All Days Hostel is cheapest but has shared bathrooms. Airport hotels generally cost less than central luxury hotels, but require a separate journey downtown.
Which Toronto neighborhood works best when sharing one room with children?
For walking to major attractions, look around CN Tower & Harbourfront or the Entertainment District: downtown Delta, InterContinental and Sutton Place are useful bases. Yorkville suits museum visits, with Hazelton near the Royal Ontario Museum. Canopy and All Days work for subway-based exploring near Sherbourne. Choose Pearson-area hotels primarily for flights rather than downtown sightseeing.
