The leading quiet fit and strong hotels favor Duke; medical-area evenings are less continuous than Ninth Street’s pub scene.

This is several different stays under the Duke name. West Campus offers Gothic architecture, the chapel, gardens and basketball traditions; Erwin Road and Fulton Street are more practical for hospital visits. Ninth Street supplies the college-town shopping and dining strip, with bookshops, diners and neighborhood pubs. Don't assume an address convenient for one will put the others immediately outside your door.
