Hotels in Raleigh-Durhama traditional upscale 4-star golf hotel on Duke’s campus
8.9/10
A strong Duke-campus choice for gracious service, golf and traditional comfort.
Washington Duke Inn is a traditional upscale 4-star golf hotel on Duke’s campus, and a strong pick when the university is your main destination. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise attentive staff, clean rooms and comfortable beds; dining earns plenty of praise too. The golf course, wooded walking trail and indoor pool give it appeal beyond campus convenience. The hotel’s July 2026 update describes refreshed public spaces, terraces and specialty suites—not a wholesale renovation of every bedroom.
The trade-off is that some standard rooms still draw comments about worn details, and their size is modest for an upscale stay. A few recent guests on both Tripadvisor and Expedia report disruptive neighboring-room or wedding-party noise, so light sleepers should request quieter placement. We’d choose it for Duke visits and golf weekends, but skip it for a contemporary design hotel or a downtown, walk-everywhere break.
