South Durham's NC 54 and NC 55 corridors mix workplaces, shopping plazas and residential neighborhoods. Greenwood Commons and its brewery and farmers' market offer a more local counterpoint to the office-park setting. Southpoint shopping, Boxyard RTP and Hub RTP broaden the options, but they are separate destinations rather than one continuous district to wander.
- Best for
- business trips and conventionsa quiet stay
- Skip it if
- You want sightseeing or nightlife outside the door; You plan to explore the Triangle without arranging transport
- Getting around
- GoDurham 12 serves NC 55/54 and GoTriangle 800 follows NC 54 toward the Regional Transit Center for RDU connections; check stop access, and expect driving for many workplaces and outings.
- After dark
- Think brewery or restaurant evenings in individual pockets, not a continuous late-night strip; this is our calmer work-trip pick.
