Questions families ask
Should we book two queens or two doubles?
Two queens give each adult-and-child pair more sleeping width. Central Hotel, W Panama and The Westin list two queens; Holiday Inn, Novotel, Bristol, Ramada and TRYP list doubles. San Felipe and Renaissance have conflicting bed descriptions, so confirm the actual bed dimensions rather than relying on a family or quadruple room label.
How much space will four people actually have?
Novotel lists approximately 312–344 square feet, Holiday Inn 334, and TRYP 344. Bristol, San Felipe and W offer roughly 430–441 square feet. Residence Inn’s published studio size is 603 square feet, with a kitchen, but bedding needs confirmation. Westin’s published sizes disagree, while Radisson’s unusually small published figure should be checked directly.
Can we add a crib or rollaway instead of sharing beds?
A rollaway is not a dependable workaround: Holiday Inn and W list no extra beds, while several others require room-specific permission. TRYP and Central list paid extra beds; Bristol and Westin list free rollaways at property level only. Free cribs are listed at several hotels, but reserve ahead and confirm the room’s allowance and any age limits.
Does a room for four cost much more than a room for two?
It varies considerably. Westin’s four-person room can match its cheapest two-person option, while Holiday Inn shows a relatively modest increase. Ramada, San Felipe and Radisson show much larger increases. That does not make Westin the cheapest overall: Holiday Inn and Novotel are lower-cost family options. Compare the total for all four guests and check breakfast inclusion.
Which neighborhood is easiest with children?
Casco Viejo is strongest for walking to historic sights: Central Hotel and San Felipe put museums, squares and restaurants nearby. El Cangrejo suits restaurant outings and metro use, particularly Novotel and TRYP. Punta Pacifica works for shopping and Residence Inn’s kitchen-equipped stays. Costa del Este and Amador make more sense when your plans are nearby; expect rides elsewhere.
