Kihei is the best fit for a less resort-shaped holiday. Along South Kihei Road, Azeka and Lipoa Street give you everyday shopping, casual meals and live music; Aloha Maui Pride also holds its recurring brunch nearby. The town stretches along the coast, with Kalama and the Kamaole beaches farther south rather than outside every front door.

- Skip it if
- You want secluded resort surroundings; You expect the whole town to be comfortably walkable
- Getting around
- Walkable pockets, not a walkable whole town; buses 10 and 15 serve Kihei; from OGG drive or take 35/40 to Kahului Transit Center and transfer to 10.
- After dark
- Live music around Azeka and louder bars at Kalama Village’s Triangle create distinct evening pockets; stay away from those clusters for quieter sleep.
- Where to look
- Kamaole I, South Kihei Road. Start here for beach days and casual meals on foot; road crossings interrupt the seaside routine.Keawakapu Beach, north end. Choose this southern pocket for long beach walks and quieter surroundings, rather than Kihei’s bar clusters.South Kihei Road near Kalepolepo. A quieter northern stretch for sunset walks and car-based exploring, rather than a busy dining strip.
