The Kasbah has a more residential rhythm around Rue de la Kasbah and Bab Agnaou, with the Saadian Tombs nearby. Across toward Place des Ferblantiers, the Mellah adds spice shops, Jewish heritage and convenient approaches to Bahia and El Badi palaces. These adjoining quarters offer different street experiences, not one uniformly quiet district.
- Best for
- couplesmuseums and culture
- Skip it if
- Your priority is late-night bars; You want the northern souks immediately outside
- Getting around
- Walk to the southern palaces and Jemaa el-Fna; Sidi Mimoun offers onward transport; from RAK, take a taxi to Bab Agnaou or an agreed accessible approach near Place des Ferblantiers.
- After dark
- Think dinner terraces rather than a bar circuit; residential lanes are quieter than the main square, making a familiar route home worthwhile.
- Where to look
- Rue de la Kasbah. The residential royal quarter suits slower old-city stays, with the tombs nearby and less emphasis on the main souks.Place des Ferblantiers. Cafés and craft shops between the palaces make an easy sightseeing anchor; useful if you prefer terrace dinners to nightlife.Rue Sidi Mimoun. The western medina edge suits walkers splitting time between Koutoubia, the main square and quieter accommodation lanes.
