Osu leads on character and nearby food and drink, with useful central access, but its hotel offering is middling and nights can be noisy.

Osu makes Accra easiest to enjoy without planning every outing around a car. Oxford Street—also called Cantonments Road—and its numbered side lanes put street food, shops, restaurants and bars together. Recent visitors on Reddit particularly value being able to walk between everyday errands and meals. Stay off the main strip if sleep matters.
The trade-off is stimulation rather than serenity: traffic, persistent sellers and music after dinner. Walking locally does not make the wider city walkable, and arranged transport remains sensible after dark. Across Accra, LGBTQ travelers face legal and social restrictions; choosing a different neighborhood does not remove them.
