#5 of 9 hotels in Vasastan by Axel's take. Vasastan is #5 of 8 places to stay in Stockholm. The best hotels in Vasastan, ranked · Where to stay in Stockholm

Axel's take: 8.3/10

A welcoming Stockholm base with excellent breakfast, provided you can live with compact rooms. a small, characterful 3-star hotel in central Stockholm, scored for what it is.

Rex is a small 3-star in an 1866 townhouse, and a strong pick for travelers who value character and convenience over space. Rådmansgatan metro is around the corner, with cafés and restaurants nearby. Recent Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful reception staff, clean rooms and a generous breakfast buffet. For a straightforward central Stockholm stay, it delivers good value.

The compromise is room size: small bedrooms and tight bathrooms recur across reviews, so couples with substantial luggage should favor a Standard Double over the Small Double. Guests also mention soft mattresses, and the décor varies between warmer traditional rooms and a more industrial garden-wing style. We'd skip it if spacious rooms or reliably firm beds are priorities; otherwise, the friendly service and location make the trade-offs reasonable.

Best for: solo travelers; couples traveling light; city breaks using public transport
Watch out for: compact rooms and tight bathrooms; soft mattresses; paid, limited parking
Location: Central Vasastan, about two minutes from Rådmansgatan metro, with restaurants and cafés nearby.
Rooms: Individually decorated and generally compact; standard doubles are the safer choice for two.
Cleanliness: Consistently positive across recent reviews, with strong cleanliness ratings on Booking.com and Expedia.
Service: Helpful, welcoming reception staff are one of the clearest recurring strengths.
Amenities: Breakfast buffet, free Wi-Fi, lobby coffee and tea, a courtyard terrace and 24-hour reception.
Fees and surprises: Parking costs extra and limited garage spaces require advance booking; Expedia lists the property as cashless.
