#4 of 9 hotels in Vasastan by Axel's take. Vasastan is #5 of 8 places to stay in Stockholm. The best hotels in Vasastan, ranked · Where to stay in Stockholm

Axel's take: 8.4/10

A reliable Stockholm base with excellent breakfast and staff, but choose your room carefully. a dependable 4-star city and conference hotel in Vasastan, scored for what it is.

Hotel Birger Jarl is a dependable 4-star city and conference hotel in Vasastan, better for straightforward comfort than a luxury escape. We'd pick it for the consistently praised housekeeping, helpful staff and generous breakfast buffet. Booking.com and Expedia guests reinforce those strengths, while the quieter neighborhood has restaurants and Rådmansgatan metro within easy walking distance. It's a strong base if you don't need the old town on your doorstep.

Room choice matters: standard doubles are compact, the smallest doubles have narrower beds, and cabin rooms have no windows. A recent Tripadvisor guest also found renovated and older rooms in the same party, so request a refreshed room rather than assuming the photos represent every category. Breakfast can get crowded. We'd skip it if spacious rooms or immediate access to the main sights are priorities.

Best for: couples comfortable with compact rooms; business travelers; city explorers happy using the metro
Watch out for: compact rooms and windowless cabin categories; busy breakfast periods; older and refreshed rooms differ
Location: Quieter Vasastan setting, about five minutes from Rådmansgatan metro; not directly among the old-town sights.
Rooms: Standard doubles are around 17 square meters; small doubles have 140-centimeter beds, and cabin rooms lack windows.
Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Tripadvisor feedback.
Service: Friendly, helpful staff are among the most consistently praised features.
Amenities: Breakfast buffet, restaurant, lobby bar, gym with skyline views and garage with EV charging.
Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion; garage parking and EV charging cost extra, and the hotel is cashless.
