#6 of 9 hotels in Norrmalm & Central Station by Axel's take. Norrmalm & Central Station is #1 of 8 places to stay in Stockholm. The best hotels in Norrmalm & Central Station, ranked · Where to stay in Stockholm

Axel's take: 8.5/10

A stylish central base, provided you choose your room carefully. a lively, Art Deco-style 4-star in central Stockholm, scored for what it is.

Haymarket is a lively, Art Deco-style 4-star overlooking Hötorget, and a strong pick for a Stockholm city break. Its characterful public spaces and cocktail bar give it more personality than a standard chain hotel, while the location makes sightseeing, shopping and train connections straightforward. Recent Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise comfortable beds, cleanliness and helpful staff; the extensive breakfast is another consistent strength.

The main compromise is the room you book. Classic doubles are compact, and Scandic explicitly labels several categories as windowless. Booking.com guests also report noise in some lower-floor rooms facing the square or above the bar, so light sleepers should request a quieter position. Recent Tripadvisor guests say daily cleaning needs requesting. We'd choose it for location and atmosphere, but skip the smallest categories if space and daylight matter.

  • Best for: couples on a city break; shopping and sightseeing; travelers who enjoy a lively hotel bar

  • Watch out for: compact rooms and windowless categories; noise in some square-facing and above-bar rooms; daily cleaning may need requesting

  • Location: On Hötorget, close to the metro and within walking distance of Central Station.

  • Rooms: Comfortable beds and distinctive decor; Classic doubles are 13 m², with windowless categories clearly identified.

  • Cleanliness: Generally well rated across Booking.com and Expedia; request stayover cleaning at check-in.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength, though some guests report check-in queues.

  • Amenities: Restaurants, café, cocktail bar, gym and free Wi-Fi; breakfast receives frequent praise.

  • Fees and surprises: Check whether breakfast is included; parking is in a nearby paid garage, not on site.
