#4 of 9 hotels in Norrmalm & Central Station by Axel's take. Norrmalm & Central Station is #1 of 8 places to stay in Stockholm. The best hotels in Norrmalm & Central Station, ranked · Where to stay in Stockholm

Axel's take: 8.7/10

A sociable Stockholm base with excellent breakfast, but rooftop wellness costs extra. a design-led 4-star city hotel in central Stockholm, scored for what it is.

Downtown Camper is a design-led 4-star in central Stockholm, and a strong pick for travelers who want more personality than a standard chain hotel. Its outdoors-inspired lounges, organized activities and rooftop bar give it a sociable feel without sacrificing comfort. Recent Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds, helpful staff and an unusually generous breakfast. The location makes sightseeing, shopping and reaching Central Station straightforward on foot.

The main catches are room choice and extras. Scandic’s “Sleep” categories have no windows, while recent guests describe dim lighting and some overly warm rooms; management confirms central ventilation rather than full air-conditioning. Breakfast can get crowded and is not included with every booking. The Nest’s rooftop pool and sauna require paid, advance-booked admission and are restricted to ages 16-plus. We'd skip it for guaranteed cool rooms or an included family pool.

  • Best for: first-time Stockholm visitors; solo travelers who enjoy organized activities; families prioritizing sightseeing over swimming

  • Watch out for: paid, prebooked rooftop wellness for ages 16-plus; windowless Sleep room categories; dim lighting and potentially warm rooms

  • Location: Central, walkable setting near shopping, transit and the route to Gamla Stan.

  • Rooms: Comfortable beds and distinctive design; check windows, lighting and cooling expectations.

  • Cleanliness: Consistently praised across recent Expedia, Booking.com and Tripadvisor feedback.

  • Service: Generally friendly and helpful, with occasional reports of stretched reception staff.

  • Amenities: Organized activities, gym, restaurant and rooftop bar; pool and sauna have separate admission.

  • Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion; wellness costs extra, and parking is in a paid nearby garage.
