#6 of 6 hotels in Jing'an by Axel's take. Jing'an is #2 of 8 places to stay in Shanghai. The best hotels in Jing'an, ranked · Where to stay in Shanghai

Axel's take: 8.2/10

Generous suites and a useful downtown base, but luxury polish remains uneven. a five-star, apartment-style suite hotel in central Jing’an, scored for what it is.

THE ONE is a five-star, apartment-style suite hotel whose strongest assets are space and location. IHG lists suites starting at 62 square meters, with separate living areas, kitchen facilities and washer-dryers. Near West Nanjing Road’s shops and metro connections, it’s a strong pick for families and longer stays. Trip.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the roomy layouts and helpful staff.

The caveat is uneven five-star polish: recent Expedia reviews mention worn fittings, limited kitchen equipment and breakfast that falls short of luxury expectations. Newer Trip.com feedback is more positive about refreshed rooms, but Jetstar lists selected-room renovations through December 31, 2026, with possible daytime disturbance; confirm your room’s status. Booking.com also flags pool closures on the 1st and 15th monthly. We’d skip it for a special-occasion stay demanding consistently immaculate finishes.

  • Best for: families wanting separate living space; longer business stays; shopping and metro-based sightseeing

  • Watch out for: selected-room renovations listed through December 2026; uneven room condition and breakfast; pool closed on the 1st and 15th monthly

  • Location: Central Jing’an, within walking distance of West Nanjing Road shopping and metro stations.

  • Rooms: Exceptionally spacious suites with laundry and kitchen facilities; confirm refreshed-room availability and cooking equipment.

  • Cleanliness: Generally positive ratings, though some recent guests flag housekeeping details rather than consistently immaculate upkeep.

  • Service: Helpful front-desk staff earn frequent praise; individual experiences are less consistent.

  • Amenities: Indoor pool, gym, restaurant and terrace; IHG lists gym opening at 9am and pool at 10am.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking and extra beds cost extra; confirm breakfast occupancy allowances and renovation disruption before booking.
