#7 of 8 hotels in Laugardalur by Axel's take. Laugardalur is #5 of 5 places to stay in Reykjavik. The best hotels in Laugardalur, ranked · Where to stay in Reykjavik

Axel's take: 7.3/10

Useful kitchens and free parking, but compact rooms and uneven support limit the appeal. A simple 3-star self-service aparthotel outside central Reykjavik, scored for what it is.

Urban RVK is a simple, self-service aparthotel, now marketed as Urban Reykjavik Studios by Heimaleiga. We'd consider it for a practical, car-based stay rather than a downtown city break. Guests across Booking.com and Expedia praise the kitchenettes, comfortable beds and convenient free parking; cleanliness is generally a strength. Cooking for yourself adds genuine value here.

The compromises are small rooms, limited storage and a location better suited to driving or buses than doorstep sightseeing. Recent reviews repeatedly describe missing or faulty entry codes, while remote support gets mixed feedback. Several guests also report disruptive alarms; a June 2026 guest mentioned construction noise, though its current status is unconfirmed. Check cleaning charges and accommodation tax before arrival. We'd skip it if you want staffed reception, dependable quiet or central nightlife.

  • Best for: Road-trippers with a rental car; Budget-conscious self-caterers; Independent short stays

  • Watch out for: Compact rooms with limited storage; Entry-code problems and uneven remote support; Alarm disturbances; construction noise reported in June 2026

  • Location: Outside the tourist core, near Laugardalur; driving or buses make sightseeing easier.

  • Rooms: Useful kitchenettes and comfortable beds, but many studios feel tight and lack storage.

  • Cleanliness: Generally well rated, although some recent guests report lapses.

  • Service: No staffed front desk; remote help ranges from quick responses to unresolved problems.

  • Amenities: Kitchenettes, free Wi-Fi, elevator and free first-come parking are the main practical benefits.

  • Fees and surprises: Check cleaning-fee and accommodation-tax inclusion; the operator specifies a 10 a.m. checkout.
