Axel's take: 8.1/10

A strong downtown base with helpful staff, but nightlife can compromise sleep. a simple 3-star in central Reykjavík’s nightlife district, scored for what it is.

Center Hotels Klöpp is a straightforward 3-star we'd pick for exploring Reykjavík on foot rather than spending much time in the hotel. Shops, restaurants and tour-bus stops are close, and recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful reception team and clean rooms. It's a strong practical base, with service a particular strength.

The central location brings a genuine catch: nearby pubs generate recurring late-night noise, especially on weekends. Ask for a quieter room, without treating that as a guarantee. Rooms are generally compact and basic, with dated furnishings mentioned across reviews; breakfast earns plenty of praise but less consistent feedback on variety. We'd skip it for a quiet retreat or a facilities-heavy stay, but it works well for travelers prioritizing walkability and friendly service.

• Best for: car-free city breaks; sightseers using organized excursions; travelers who enjoy downtown nightlife

• Watch out for: late-night pub noise; compact, sometimes dated rooms; entrance steps and no onsite parking

• Location: Just off Laugavegur, with shops, restaurants and excursion pickup stops within easy walking distance.

• Rooms: Simple rooms with minibars and tea/coffee facilities; recurring comments mention limited space and tired furnishings.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest accounts, despite some reports of worn finishes.

• Service: Reception staff repeatedly earn praise for helpful local advice and transport arrangements.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, breakfast, a bar and 24-hour reception; this is a limited-facilities city hotel.

• Fees and surprises: No onsite parking; three entrance steps despite an elevator. Check breakfast inclusion, as Expedia lists it as chargeable.
