#3 of 9 hotels in Laugavegur & Hallgrímskirkja by Axel's take. Laugavegur & Hallgrímskirkja is #2 of 5 places to stay in Reykjavik. The best hotels in Laugavegur & Hallgrímskirkja, ranked · Where to stay in Reykjavik
Axel's take: 8.7/10
A strong Reykjavík base, with breakfast and parking that add real value. A minimalist 3-star city hotel near Laugavegur, scored for what it is.
Skuggi is a minimalist 3-star city hotel that gets the important things right: clean rooms, comfortable beds and a walkable location just off Laugavegur. We'd pick it for sightseeing rather than spending afternoons indoors. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the breakfast and cleanliness, while staff earn mostly positive feedback. Included breakfast and limited free parking make it a practical choice for a Reykjavík stop before or after a road trip.
The trade-offs are compact rooms, dark décor and parking that can fill up. Guests also report warm rooms without air-conditioning, and some mention street or corridor noise, although others find it quiet. We'd skip it if you need generous room space, reliable cooling or guaranteed parking; otherwise, it's a very good, straightforward base.
