Axel's take: 8.1/10

A dependable sightseeing base with helpful staff, but cramped bathrooms. a simple 3-star near Reykjavík’s main shopping street, scored for what it is.

Fosshotel Lind is a straightforward 3-star near Laugavegur, best treated as a comfortable base rather than somewhere to spend the day. It’s a strong pick for travelers who prioritize walking to restaurants and easy tour pickups over stylish surroundings. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the cleanliness, helpful reception team and generous breakfast buffet; Booking.com feedback broadly agrees.

The compromises are mostly physical: rooms are modest and sometimes dated, while the particularly small bathrooms attract repeated complaints about shower water spreading across the floor. Triples can feel squeezed. Housekeeping is on request, breakfast inclusion depends on your booking, and parking is limited rather than guaranteed. We’d skip it if you need a roomy bathroom or polished modern interiors, but it delivers the essentials well for a simple city hotel.

• Best for: couples on sightseeing breaks; travelers joining guided excursions; visitors prioritizing location over style

• Watch out for: tiny bathrooms with splash-prone showers; tight space in triple rooms; limited, unreserved parking

• Location: Near Laugavegur’s shops and restaurants; recent guests find bus stop 13 especially convenient for excursions.

• Rooms: Simple, generally comfortable rooms; compact layouts and dated bathrooms are the recurring weaknesses.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest feedback; housekeeping must be requested.

• Service: Reception staff earn repeated praise for helpful advice and practical assistance.

• Amenities: Breakfast buffet, free Wi-Fi, in-room tea and coffee, an elevator and a 24-hour front desk.

• Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion; the hotel says lodging tax is collected on arrival, and nearby paid parking may be needed.
