Comfortable beds, but remote service and unreliable access weaken the budget appeal. A basic, self-check-in 3-star outside central Reykjavik, scored for what it is.

Arctic Comfort is a basic, self-check-in 3-star in a commercial neighborhood outside central Reykjavik. We'd consider it for a short, car-based stay, rather than a city break spent exploring on foot. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests often praise comfortable beds and refreshed rooms, and free parking helps. But this now operates more like remotely managed accommodation than a conventional staffed hotel: don't rely on 24-hour on-site reception.

The recurring concern is getting help when something goes wrong. Multiple guests report failed entry codes, with response times ranging from quick fixes to lengthy waits. There is no elevator, and reviews also flag overheating, patchy Wi-Fi and inconsistent cleaning arrangements. Guests reported unfinished corridors and stairwell work in May 2026; completion is unconfirmed. Recent accounts also contradict older bar, lounge and buffet-breakfast descriptions. We'd skip it if you need dependable on-site assistance, step-free access or a central location.

• Best for: Budget-conscious travelers with a car; Independent travelers comfortable with self-check-in; Short stays built around organized tours

• Watch out for: Entry-code failures and uneven remote support; Stairs only; no elevator; Unfinished common areas reported in May 2026

• Location: Commercial setting roughly a 40-minute walk from the center; better suited to driving or arranged pickups.

• Rooms: Refreshed rooms and comfortable beds draw praise, but overheating and wet-room showers recur in complaints.

• Cleanliness: Many guests find rooms clean on arrival; other reports flag stained furnishings and poorly kept common areas.

• Service: Self-check-in with remote assistance, not a reliably staffed reception; problem handling varies considerably.

• Amenities: Free parking and Wi-Fi are listed; internet reliability varies, and older bar and buffet claims are disputed.

• Fees and surprises: Guests report extra charges for cleaning during the stay; confirm housekeeping, breakfast format and access instructions before arrival.
