Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong family all-inclusive, with standout service and a beachfront restaurant currently under renovation. An upscale, all-suite beachfront resort for families in Marina Vallarta, scored for what it is.

Velas Vallarta is an upscale, all-suite beachfront resort whose strongest selling points are space, cleanliness and genuinely attentive service. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the staff, comfortable suites and well-kept grounds. We'd pick it for an easy family holiday rather than cutting-edge luxury; three pools, a kids' club and round-the-clock room service make staying put appealing.

The immediate catch is La Ribera: the beachfront restaurant is closed for renovation, with booking sites listing October 31, 2026 as the expected completion date, subject to change. Andrea remains open, with additional dining at sister venues reached by complimentary shuttle. Confirm reopening before booking if beachfront meals matter. We'd also skip it for an adults-only escape or a holiday centered on downtown nightlife.

• Best for: Families wanting spacious suites; Multigenerational pool holidays; Travelers who prioritize attentive service

• Watch out for: La Ribera restaurant renovation through October 2026; Some replacement dining requires a shuttle; Family atmosphere rather than adults-only quiet

• Location: Beachfront in Marina Vallarta, roughly ten minutes from the airport rather than in downtown Puerto Vallarta.

• Rooms: Spacious suites are a consistent strength; recent guests praise comfort and housekeeping.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength across sources: Expedia and Booking.com both show particularly strong cleanliness ratings.

• Service: Friendly, attentive staff earn repeated praise across Tripadvisor and Expedia, including recent 2026 stays.

• Amenities: Three pools, a kids' club for ages 4–12, a fitness center and 24-hour suite service support family stays.

• Fees and surprises: Airport transfers can cost extra; La Ribera is currently under renovation, with complimentary shuttles to alternative dining.
