Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong waterfront base for exploring Vallarta, provided you choose your room carefully. a historic, good-value 3-star on the Malecón, scored for what it is.

Rosita is a historic, straightforward 3-star at the northern end of the Malecón, and a strong pick for exploring Puerto Vallarta on foot. Its appeal is traditional Mexican character, ocean views and good value rather than resort polish. Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the location, clean rooms and generally welcoming staff. The bay-facing pool and Agave restaurant give you somewhere pleasant to pause between outings.

Room choice matters: guests describe both updated, comfortable rooms and older, darker ones, with street, corridor and restaurant noise recurring in reviews. Refrigerators are not standard, and breakfast inclusions vary by booking. Street construction disrupted access and sleep in spring 2026; whether it continues is unconfirmed, so check before arrival. We'd skip it for guaranteed quiet or a full-service resort experience.

• Best for: value-minded couples; travelers exploring downtown on foot; fans of traditional Mexican hotels

• Watch out for: uneven room condition and soundproofing; confirm current street-construction status; check breakfast and refrigerator inclusions

• Location: Waterfront at the Malecón’s northern end, with restaurants and downtown sights within walking distance.

• Rooms: Simple air-conditioned rooms; condition and outlook vary, and refrigerators are not standard.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall cleanliness ratings outweigh occasional reports of housekeeping lapses.

• Service: Friendly staff earn frequent praise, though room-change handling and restaurant attention get mixed feedback.

• Amenities: Outdoor ocean-facing pool, Agave restaurant, bar, elevator and free Wi-Fi; no on-site parking.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast depends on the booking; spring 2026 streetworks affected access, with current status unconfirmed.
