Axel's take: 8.6/10

A strong condo-style base for space and views, with hillside and construction caveats. An upscale 4-star condo-style aparthotel above Puerto Vallarta’s Romantic Zone, scored for what it is.

Pinnacle Resorts 180 is an upscale 4-star aparthotel: think spacious condos rather than conventional hotel rooms. It’s a strong pick for travelers who want kitchens, laundry and private terraces close to Romantic Zone restaurants and Los Muertos Beach. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the cleanliness, views and helpful staff. The lobby-level infinity pool and bar add a sociable hotel element without sacrificing apartment-style independence.

The trade-offs deserve attention. This is a hillside address, not a beachfront resort; the funicular helps with the climb, but surrounding cobblestones still matter for limited mobility. Expedia currently flags neighboring-building construction and possible noise, so check conditions before committing. Some guests also describe minor maintenance issues and restrictive visitor rules. We’d choose it for a longer, independent stay, but skip it for guaranteed daytime quiet or effortless beach access.

• Best for: Couples wanting apartment-style space; Friends sharing a two-bedroom suite; Longer Romantic Zone stays

• Watch out for: Neighboring-building construction warning; Hillside access and cobblestones; Visitor restrictions

• Location: Close to Romantic Zone dining and Los Muertos Beach, but uphill rather than beachfront.

• Rooms: Spacious suites with kitchens, laundry and terraces; views vary, and some guests report minor maintenance needs.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across guest feedback, with housekeeping frequently praised.

• Service: Staff earn strong praise overall, though concierge advice receives occasional criticism.

• Amenities: Lobby-level infinity pool and bar, gym and spa; do not confuse it with neighboring Pinnacle properties.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a damage deposit and pet-related conditions; confirm visitor rules and neighboring construction before booking.
