Axel's take: 7.8/10

Friendly staff and family entertainment outweigh dated rooms, but check renovation progress. a mid-range, family-focused beachfront all-inclusive in Marina Vallarta, scored for what it is.

Meliá Puerto Vallarta is a mid-range beachfront all-inclusive, officially rated four stars, whose strongest draw is family fun rather than polished rooms. We'd consider it for the large lagoon-style pool, kids' activities and evening shows, with Marina Vallarta nearby. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff; recent Expedia reviews also strongly support cleanliness. It's a good pick if you'll spend more time around the pool than inspecting the decor.

The trade-offs are aging rooms and bathrooms, mixed buffet feedback and occasional crowding. September 2026 guests still reported lobby renovation work; summer reviews also described pool-bar work and temporary restaurant closures, so confirm what's operating before booking. Some specialty dining and extras cost more despite the all-inclusive label. We'd skip it for a quiet couples' escape or consistently upscale accommodation.

• Best for: families who enjoy organized activities; pool-focused all-inclusive vacations; travelers wanting Marina Vallarta nearby

• Watch out for: renovations reported through September 2026; dated rooms and uneven bathroom condition; specialty-dining restrictions and extra charges

• Location: Beachfront in Marina Vallarta, near the airport and marina rather than downtown.

• Rooms: Spacious balcony rooms, but dated furnishings and bathroom maintenance draw recurring criticism.

• Cleanliness: Broadly positive, especially on Expedia, though some recent Tripadvisor guests report lapses.

• Service: Friendly restaurant, pool and entertainment staff are the most consistent strength.

• Amenities: Large outdoor pool, Kidsdom, mini-golf, nightly entertainment and YHI Spa.

• Fees and surprises: Tauro dining, Bali beds and airport transfers cost extra; confirm renovation status and dining inclusions.
