Axel's take: 8.1/10

Strong service and poolside appeal, but continuing renovations warrant caution. an upscale beachfront resort in Marina Vallarta, scored for what it is.

This upscale beachfront resort in Marina Vallarta is a strong pick for travelers who prioritize pool time, friendly service and nearby marina restaurants. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the staff, while cleanliness scores are reassuring across Expedia and Booking.com. Balconies throughout are another plus. We'd choose it for a resort-centered vacation rather than a stay built around downtown nightlife.

The immediate catch is construction. Marriott scheduled its reopening for October 19, 2026, following a summer closure, but United Vacations lists further work through April 2027 involving the lazy river, spa, shops, tennis courts and gym. It says core services will continue; confirm your must-have facilities directly. Earlier guests also describe uneven room quality and occasional noisy group events, and Expedia lists a mandatory resort fee. We'd skip it for now if guaranteed quiet and fully finished facilities matter more than the beachfront setting.

• Best for: families prioritizing pool time; couples who enjoy marina dining; travelers wanting airport convenience

• Watch out for: renovation work scheduled through April 2027; mandatory daily resort fee; occasional noisy group events

• Location: Beachfront near the airport and walkable marina restaurants, rather than downtown nightlife.

• Rooms: All have balconies or terraces; earlier guests found room quality less consistent than service.

• Cleanliness: Generally a strength: Expedia scores cleanliness 9.2 and Booking.com 8.9.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff earn repeated praise, although some guests report poor communication during disruptions.

• Amenities: Infinity pool, restaurants and Ohtli Spa are advertised; confirm access during continuing renovation work.

• Fees and surprises: Mandatory resort fee listed; parking is complimentary, but Marriott provides no airport shuttle.
