Axel's take: 8.2/10

A strong family all-inclusive, with excellent activities but frustrating dinner reservations. A lively 4-star beachfront all-inclusive for families in Nuevo Nayarit, scored for what it is.

Marival Emotions is a lively 4-star beachfront all-inclusive in Nuevo Nayarit, rather than central Puerto Vallarta. It's a strong pick for families who want their entertainment sorted: children's pools, kids' and teens' clubs, sports and evening shows give everyone plenty to do. Recent Tripadvisor, Expedia and Accor guests repeatedly praise the friendly staff and activity teams, while cleanliness earns strong marks overall. We'd choose it for an active beach holiday rather than a luxury escape.

The main friction is dining: Expedia guests and Reddit travelers describe limited restaurant availability and cumbersome reservations, while food and drinks draw mixed verdicts. Room comfort and upkeep also attract some complaints. The hotel's website lists several dining venues outside the all-inclusive package, so check inclusions carefully. We'd skip it for a quiet couples' retreat or a food-focused vacation.

• Best for: Families with children and teens; Multigenerational beach holidays; Travelers who enjoy organized activities

• Watch out for: Limited dinner reservations; Lively, child-heavy atmosphere; Some dining venues cost extra

• Location: Beachfront in Nuevo Nayarit; not a base for walking around central Puerto Vallarta.

• Rooms: Standard rooms and multibedroom suites; some guests flag uncomfortable beds or maintenance issues.

• Cleanliness: Generally a strength across guest ratings, despite occasional housekeeping complaints.

• Service: Friendly staff and enthusiastic entertainment teams receive repeated praise.

• Amenities: Family and adults-only pools, kids' and teens' clubs, sports, shows, gym and spa.

• Fees and surprises: Champagne Room, Capriccio and Mai Tai are listed outside the all-inclusive package; spa treatments cost extra.
