Axel's take: 8.2/10

Come for the cove and welcoming staff, not consistently standout dining. an upscale, family-friendly beachfront all-inclusive south of Puerto Vallarta, scored for what it is.

Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta is an upscale, family-friendly all-inclusive whose strongest selling point is its tucked-away Las Estacas beach setting. It's a strong pick for travelers who want pool-and-beach days with town a short drive away. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, ocean views and cleanliness. The kids club and adults-only pool give families and couples reasons to choose it, without pretending this is an adults-only escape.

The trade-off is consistency. Recent Tripadvisor reviews, including those displayed by Hyatt, repeatedly question the food, while others praise it enthusiastically; we'd treat dining as serviceable rather than a reason to book. Room wear and maintenance also surface often enough to temper luxury expectations. Check your category carefully: many Main Tower rooms have Juliet balconies, not furnished outdoor space. We'd skip it for a food-focused vacation or uniformly polished luxury.

• Best for: families wanting an easy beach vacation; couples who prioritize scenery over dining; resort stays with occasional trips into town

• Watch out for: uneven dining and room maintenance; Juliet balconies in many Main Tower rooms; vacation-ownership sales pitches

• Location: Las Estacas beachfront setting; Hyatt estimates downtown is about five minutes away by car.

• Rooms: Ocean views are a strength, but condition varies; book a Balcony category or Club Tower for furnished outdoor space.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall guest ratings for cleanliness outweigh scattered complaints about humidity and room upkeep.

• Service: Friendly frontline staff earn consistent praise; problem handling receives more mixed feedback.

• Amenities: Multiple outdoor pools, an adults-only pool, kids club for ages 4–12, gym and included room service.

• Fees and surprises: Spa treatments, larger cabanas and airport transfers cost extra; specialty dining reservations are recommended.
