Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong adults-only pick for rooftop lounging, spacious rooms and genuinely attentive service. a modern, adults-only upscale hotel in Nuevo Nayarit, not on the beach, scored for what it is.

Mio is a modern, adults-only upscale hotel in Nuevo Nayarit—not central Puerto Vallarta—and we'd choose it for comfort and service rather than beachfront luxury. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise spacious, clean rooms and warm staff, especially in the restaurant. The rooftop pools and coastal views are the main attraction, while breakfast earns plenty of enthusiastic mentions. It's a strong pick for couples who want a comfortable base without a sprawling resort atmosphere.

The beach requires a walk, and the hotel's advertised sunset DJs mean adults-only doesn't necessarily mean silent. Nearby construction has affected some room views, with a June 2026 guest still reporting it; ask about current work before choosing your room. Some showers are visible from the bedroom, limiting privacy. We'd skip it if direct beach frontage or guaranteed quiet tops your list.

• Best for: couples who prefer rooftop pools; adults seeking comfort and attentive service; travelers bringing pets

• Watch out for: not beachfront; nearby construction reported in 2026; see-through showers in some rooms

• Location: In Nuevo Nayarit, outside Puerto Vallarta proper; guests describe walkable beach access and nearby restaurants.

• Rooms: Spacious, contemporary rooms with comfortable beds; verify the view and bathroom privacy before booking.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest reviews, with especially strong cleanliness ratings.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff earn repeated praise across sites, particularly the restaurant team.

• Amenities: Rooftop pools, restaurant, bar and gym; the hotel advertises sunset DJs and free parking subject to availability.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast is not included in every booking; pets incur charges and a deposit, so confirm terms directly.
