Hotels in Pittsburgha practical 3-star hotel in Oakland's university and hospital district
8.3/10
A strong university-area base, with helpful staff but dated rooms and parking extras.
This practical 3-star in Oakland is a strong pick for Pitt visits and UPMC hospital stays. Its appeal is convenience rather than style: campus, hospitals and plenty of places to eat are nearby. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, comfortable beds and generally clean rooms. We'd choose it for a straightforward university-area stay rather than a special-occasion escape.
The main compromises are aging decor and extras that weaken the value. Recent guests still flag worn rooms and maintenance niggles; on-site parking is paid valet only, and breakfast costs extra, with recurring complaints about the buffet's value and limited choices. We'd skip it if fresh interiors, included breakfast or easy self-parking are priorities.

Watch out for: paid valet-only parking on site; breakfast costs extra; dated decor and some maintenance complaints
Location: Walkable for Pitt and nearby UPMC hospitals; Carnegie Mellon is within a mile, rather than immediately next door.
Rooms: Comfortable beds draw praise, but older decor and occasional maintenance problems recur in guest feedback.
Cleanliness: Broadly positive across sources, although individual guests report serious exceptions.
Service: Friendly, accommodating front-desk staff are one of the most consistent strengths.
Amenities: Restaurant, fitness center and free Wi-Fi; Hilton confirms there is no airport shuttle.
Fees and surprises: Budget for valet parking and breakfast; pets also carry a nonrefundable fee.
