#2 of 9 hotels in Kata & Kata Noi by Axel's take. Kata & Kata Noi is #2 of 12 places to stay in Phuket. The best hotels in Kata & Kata Noi, ranked · Where to stay in Phuket

Axel's take: 9.2/10

A standout for atmospheric pools and warm service, provided beachfront access isn't essential. an ornate 4-star boutique resort in Kata, away from the beachfront, scored for what it is.

Sawasdee Village is an ornate 4-star boutique resort in Kata, and we'd pick it for character and attentive service rather than sea views. Intricate Thai-inspired decoration, leafy courtyards and illuminated pools give it a distinctive identity. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the staff, cleanliness and pool-access accommodation; the enthusiasm is unusually consistent. For couples who enjoy spending time at their hotel, it's a strong choice.

Choose the room category carefully: Garden Deluxe rooms are just 18 square metres, while Cabana pool-access suites offer considerably more space. Mosquitoes are a recurring complaint despite the hotel's efforts, and some guests find rooms dark. This isn't beachfront: the hotel places Kata Beach about a kilometre away and runs a free hourly daytime shuttle. We'd skip it if direct beach access or bright, minimalist rooms matter more than atmosphere.

Best for: couples seeking a characterful resort; pool-access room enthusiasts; travelers who prioritize attentive service
Watch out for: recurring mosquito complaints; compact Garden Deluxe rooms; beach requires a walk or shuttle
Location: In Kata near restaurants and shops; the hotel puts Kata Beach about one kilometre away.
Rooms: Garden Deluxe rooms are 18 square metres; Cabana suites are 48, with direct pool access.
Cleanliness: Strong recent feedback across Booking.com and Expedia; cleanliness is a consistent strength.
Service: Friendly, attentive staff attract repeated praise across the major review sites.
Amenities: Decorative pools, spa, indoor gym and restaurants; the Baray canal pool is reserved for villa guests.
Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a per-stay deposit; breakfast may cost extra depending on the booking.
