#5 of 9 hotels in Phuket Town by Axel's take. Phuket Town is #3 of 12 places to stay in Phuket. The best hotels in Phuket Town, ranked · Where to stay in Phuket

Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong town base with generous rooms and warm service, but uneven five-star polish. a five-star city hotel near Phuket Old Town, not a beach resort, scored for what it is.

Novotel Phuket City Phokeethra is a five-star city hotel that makes more sense for exploring Phuket Town than lounging by the sea. We'd pick it for spacious rooms, approachable staff and easy access to local food and Old Town, roughly ten minutes away on foot. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the service, while breakfast and the rooftop bar's city views are consistent highlights. It's a strong pick for a comfortable town stay without needing resort grounds.

The caveat is five-star polish: recent guests describe some tired furnishings and uneven upkeep, although cleanliness feedback remains broadly positive. Traffic and nearby nightlife can reach even higher floors, so request a quieter-facing room. The covered third-floor pool is more suited to a dip than sunbathing. We'd skip it for a beach-first holiday or if immaculate luxury finishes are essential.

Best for: Old Town food and culture trips; Travelers who prioritize spacious rooms; Business stays in Phuket Town
Watch out for: Traffic and nightlife noise in some rooms; Some dated furnishings and uneven upkeep; Town setting, not beach access
Location: Around a ten-minute walk to Old Town, with markets and eateries nearby; beaches require transport.
Rooms: Spacious and generally comfortable, but some guests report worn furnishings and noise even upstairs.
Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, with occasional lapses in bathroom, balcony and upholstery cleaning.
Service: Friendly, helpful staff are the clearest recurring strength across recent reviews.
Amenities: Rooftop restaurant/bar, covered pool with children's area, 24-hour gym and massage facilities.
Fees and surprises: Check-in deposit required; breakfast depends on your booking, and airport transfers cost extra.
