Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong family villa choice, provided you want pools rather than sea swimming. A relaxed 4-star villa estate on Chalong Bay, scored for what it is.

Fisherman Way is a relaxed 4-star villa estate, not a conventional full-service beach resort. We'd pick it for families and groups wanting generous living space, kitchens and time together. Tripadvisor and Agoda guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, cleanliness and peaceful grounds; the resident animals and complimentary bicycles give children more to do between swims. Selected villas have private pools, while simpler cottages use shared pools.

The main catch is the beachfront: guests consistently say it isn't suitable for swimming, so plan transport to other beaches. Accommodation varies considerably, and some recent guests flag awkward bedroom or bathroom privacy—check the exact layout before booking with friends. We'd skip it for a nightlife-focused trip or a classic swimming-beach holiday; for a slower, pool-and-villa stay, it's a strong pick.

  • Best for: Families with children; Groups wanting kitchens and shared living space; Quiet, pool-focused holidays

  • Watch out for: Beach unsuitable for swimming; Villa layouts and bathroom privacy vary; Transport needed for other beaches and nightlife

  • Location: Chalong Bay setting with shops and restaurants nearby; swimming beaches require transport.

  • Rooms: Spacious, individually furnished accommodation; confirm the layout and whether a private pool is included.

  • Cleanliness: Strong ratings across Booking.com and Agoda, reinforced by recent guest praise.

  • Service: Helpful staff are a consistent strength, including responsive WhatsApp communication.

  • Amenities: Shared beachfront pools, selected private pools, free bicycles, animal encounters and nearby dining.

  • Fees and surprises: A refundable cash damage deposit is listed; breakfast and airport transfers can cost extra.
