#8 of 9 hotels in Karon Beach by Axel's take. Karon Beach is #4 of 12 places to stay in Phuket. The best hotels in Karon Beach, ranked · Where to stay in Phuket

Axel's take: 8.0/10

A strong couples’ pick for privacy and views, provided you can handle the hills. a quiet 4-star hillside villa resort above Karon Beach, scored for what it is.

Centara Villas Phuket is a quiet 4-star hillside resort, strongest on privacy, sea views and friendly service rather than polished interiors. We'd pick it for couples who want greenery and a villa setting away from Karon’s bustle. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the staff, while the two-tiered outdoor pool gives the resort a convincing centerpiece. Private-pool villas are available, but aren't standard.

The trade-off is effort: steep paths and steps connect the villas, reception and beach, with on-site buggy rides helping rather than eliminating the climbs. Reviews across sites also describe aging rooms; some summer 2026 Tripadvisor guests reported housekeeping and maintenance failures, although overall cleanliness ratings remain good. We'd skip it for limited mobility, easy evening strolls into town, or expectations of a freshly updated four-star.

Best for: couples seeking privacy; travelers prioritizing sea views; quiet villa-based holidays
Watch out for: steep paths, steps and uphill returns; aging interiors and uneven maintenance; transport needed for convenient town access
Location: Green hillside above Karon Beach; beach access involves a steep walk rather than level beachfront access.
Rooms: Thai-style villas with garden or ocean views; private pools and whirlpools belong to selected categories.
Cleanliness: Good overall ratings, tempered by several summer 2026 complaints about room and private-pool cleaning.
Service: Warm staff are a recurring strength; some guests report slow room service and buggy waits.
Amenities: Two-tiered outdoor swimming pool, spa, two restaurants and a bar; selected villas have private pools.
Fees and surprises: Parking is free; breakfast and airport transfers can cost extra, and Expedia lists a mandatory New Year’s Eve gala dinner.
