#3 of 9 hotels in Karon Beach by Axel's take. Karon Beach is #4 of 12 places to stay in Phuket. The best hotels in Karon Beach, ranked · Where to stay in Phuket

Axel's take: 8.5/10

Friendly staff and generous pool space make this a strong-value Karon base. a good-value 3-star hillside resort near Karon Beach, scored for what it is.

Best Western Phuket Ocean Resort is a good-value 3-star hillside resort, a short walk from Karon Beach rather than directly on the sand. It’s a strong pick for an uncomplicated beach holiday: Tripadvisor and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, clean rooms and pools, while Booking.com’s cleanliness ratings are particularly strong. Balconies and sea-view options add appeal, with restaurants and shops conveniently nearby.

The hillside layout is the deciding drawback. There are plenty of steps even with lifts, so we’d skip it if climbing is difficult. Rooms are comfortable rather than stylish, and recent feedback still mentions dated furnishings despite reported improvements. Breakfast generally earns praise, though opinions on variety differ. Choose it for friendly service, swimming and location—not contemporary design or step-free convenience.

  • Best for: value-minded couples; families who enjoy pool time; beachgoers happy with a short walk

  • Watch out for: numerous steps despite lifts; some dated room furnishings; not directly beachfront

  • Location: A short walk from Karon Beach, with shops and restaurants nearby; not in Phuket Town.

  • Rooms: Comfortable rooms with balconies; sea-view categories are available, but furnishings can feel dated.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, particularly on Booking.com and Trip.com, outweighs occasional housekeeping complaints.

  • Service: Warm, helpful staff are the most consistent strength across recent guest reviews.

  • Amenities: Three outdoor pools plus a children’s pool, a fitness room, restaurant and bars.

  • Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a stay deposit and paid airport transfers; it also lists an annual July 30–August 7 closure of one pool.
