#4 of 9 hotels in Patong by Axel's take. Patong is #1 of 12 places to stay in Phuket. The best hotels in Patong, ranked · Where to stay in Phuket

Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong hillside escape for pool days, less convenient for beach-and-nightlife hopping. a five-star hillside resort above Patong, not a beachfront hotel, scored for what it is.

Avista Hideaway is a five-star hillside resort above Patong, best chosen for time at the hotel rather than doorstep beach access. We'd shortlist it for its three saltwater pools, spacious rooms and rooftop dining. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, breakfast and peaceful surroundings; Booking.com's overall feedback is positive too.

The hillside setting brings plenty of stairs, and getting into Patong means planning around the complimentary shuttle or taking taxis. Recent Trip.com guests also report some damp-smelling rooms, although cleanliness ratings elsewhere remain strong. A tour-operator notice schedules Hideaway Suite private-pool renovations through October 2026; the hotel now advertises renovated villas as open, so confirm whether any work remains near your room. It's a strong pick for resort-focused couples and families; we'd skip it for easy walking access or limited mobility.

Best for: couples seeking quieter pool days; families spending time at the resort; travelers who enjoy rooftop dining
Watch out for: many stairs across the hillside; scheduled shuttle rather than walkable Patong access; confirm remaining suite renovation work
Location: Secluded above Patong; not beachfront, with Freedom Beach reached by a trail rather than direct sand access.
Rooms: Generally spacious and comfortable; some recent guests report dampness or musty smells.
Cleanliness: Strong overall ratings on Booking.com and Expedia, despite some recent housekeeping complaints.
Service: Warm, helpful staff are a consistent strength across sites; individual problem-handling complaints remain.
Amenities: Three saltwater pools, rooftop restaurants, spa, fitness facilities and a complimentary scheduled Patong shuttle.
Fees and surprises: Breakfast depends on your booking; airport transfers cost extra, shuttle seats are limited, and renovation status needs checking.
